History

It's hard to believe that Arguello Pet Hospital will be celebrating 80 years of service in 2008. And although the philosophy of offering excellent care to animals is the same - many things have changed.

When it was built in 1928, Arguello Pet Hospital was a large and small animal hospital. The large animals, mostly horses that were used in the fire and police departments, were actually examined on the second floor. This required wrapping them in a canvas sling and hoisting them to the second floor. It must have been quite a sight to see.

As the city changed, so did the needs of the clients of Arguello Pet Hospital. The hospital was enlarged and become known for cutting edge diagnostics and excellent small animal care. However, the loyalty of the clientele didn't change. We are proud that we are serving third and fourth generations of families at Arguello Pet Hospital. We feel that our clients are part of our big extended family.

Since taking over the practice in 1982 from Elmo Shropshire, DVM, Dr. Ina has stressed progressive medicine and quality care for its patients. With continual updates in equipment, improvements to the facility and continuing education for the entire staff, Arguello Pet Hospital will continue to strive to provide the quality veterinary care that has become expected of us.
